Removing A Dishwasher
Knowing All of the Hookups!

Knowing how to safely disconnect a dishwasher
will save you a lot of money.
If something goes wrong with you dishwasher or you want to
replace here is what you do to get at all of the hooks ups.
The dishwasher has a hot water supply, electrical connection
and a drain connection
Turn off the power to your dishwasher by tripping the breaker
in your home electrical box
Look under the door of the dishwasher and locate the access
panel. This panel will give you access to the electrical ,
drain and water supplies
See how there are (4) screws holding on the panel to the
dishwasher.
Use a hex head socket wrench to remove these screws
Once the panel is removed the you will need to access the
electric box
You will find (3) wires in the box. A black ( HOT) wire a white
(neutral ) wire and a green ( ground) wire
Remove the black electric tape and unscrew the yellow wire
caps.
Once the wires are separated from the dishwasher and the
incoming power line you will need to unclamp the supply wire
and pull out from the box
Now look for the hot water supply valve and turn it OFF (
clock-wise). Most dishwashers come with a 6 foot supply line so
you will not have to disconnect the line to remove the
dishwasher.
The final hookup to disconnect is the drain. Go under you sink
cabinet and look for a hose coming out of your garbage disposal
at an angle. This is the drain or discharge line. Simply use a
pair of pliers to unclamp and pull it out. Have a bucket handy
to empty any remaining fluid.
The final step is to remove the two screws holding the
dishwasher to the counter. Use a Phillips crew driver to remove
turning counter-clockwise. Now that with all the attachments
removed and the hookups are disconnected you can remove the
dishwasher from under your counter
