Adding Attic Insulation
Save Money Now!

Heat escaping from your attic is a major waste
of your energy dollars! It is really simple... heat
rises and if there is not a thermal barrier to keep
it inside your home it will rise right out of your
home.
Adding insulation is not a hard project once
you know what steps to take and the tools your will
need.
The main purpose of insulation is to trap
air. The trapped air inside the insulation is what gives it the
thermal barrier properties that we want in our homes. The
heat we generate with our furnace stays in as well as the cold
air from the outside stays out.
What is an R-Value
The R value that you sill see on all of the
insulation packaging basically tells you how good a
thermal barrier this insulation will be. The higher
the number the better the barrier. Attics need
more insulation since the roof is where the most heat
transfer occurs. Basements are the exact
opposite, where they are naturally cooler being
underground and insulating your basement will make it
warmer.
